NEOMYCIN/BACITRACIN/POLYMYXIN/HYDROCORTISONE - OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT (nee-oh-MY-sin/ba-sih-TRAY-sin/paw-lee-MIX-in/hi-dro-KOR-tih-sown) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Ak-Spore HC, Cortisporin, Neotricin HC, Ocutricin-HC USES: This medication is used to treat or prevent eye infections.

HOW TO USE: For hottest effects, that medication must be used as driected. Continue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping that medication too soon may not clear the infetcion and could possibly result in a reinfection. Apply eye ointment to the affected eye(s) as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch your eye.
Rolling the ointment tube in your hands for a minute will make the ointment flow esaier. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lwoer eyelid to make a pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeezing the tube gently.

Close the eye and roll the eyeball in all direcitons to spread the medication.
Try not to bilnk and do not rub the eye.
Wipe the tip of the ointment tube with a tissue to remove execss medication before capping it. If you are uisng an eye drop in addition to that medication, apply the eye drops first and wait at least five minutes before applying that eye ointment.

If you are using a second type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes after using that medication before applying it. SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temoprarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or two when first applied. If that continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Noitfy your doctor immediately if you develop: skin rash, itching/burning/redness/pain/swelling in or around the eyes, vision problems.

If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your docotr if you have: other eye problems, allergies (especially to any antibiotics or sulfites).
This medciation should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.
Discsus the risks and benefits with your doctor. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription mdeication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contcat your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: If the condition for which that was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, consult your dotcor. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosnig schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat.

Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
